Community Learning Network

The Community Learning Network (CLN) supports Alberta’s Community Adult Learning Programs (CALPs), a network of more than 80 community-based organizations that provide non-formal, part-time learning opportunities for adults. These programs focus on foundational skills such as literacy, numeracy, basic digital skills, English language learning, and strategies for lifelong learning, while also building community capacity. Guided by the vision of “changing lives through adult foundational learning in connected communities,” CLN works closely with the Government of Alberta and other stakeholders to strengthen the CALP system. Its role is to equip CALP staff with professional development, training, and resources so they can deliver locally tailored programs that respond to the unique needs of their communities. CALPs are grassroots organizations, offering flexible and accessible learning that helps adults improve essential skills, pursue further education, and engage more fully in work and community life.
